I am feeling the burn of The Mistaken being a flop among audiences and critics. Perhaps it sounded better in my head. Ah well, you win some and you lose some. We were still glad to have Brad Pitt on board as the producer, director and main role.

Now I'm unsure of the next corrupted judicial system film I had pitched will work out. Here's hoping!

In Spirit is coming up next and the production has officially kicked off a few weeks ago. Del Toro was so glad to be free of the Dark Man image. His only CMP film besides the Dark series was Visionaries.

I hold In Spirit a little close to me as it's always been one of the first film, or story ideas I remember coming up with and actually attempted to write before I couldn't figure out where to take it and didn't have a whole lot of knowledge about story telling. The fact that it says it's a ghost story probably already gives hints as to what's going to happen. But I wanted to have the story give you a similar feel of 'The Others' and 'Sixth Sense': be mostly atmospheric and dark toned instead of relying on the horror 'blood 'n guts' style.

It's funny there was a ginormous article written about my appreciation of kid actors and giving them roles to work with. I enjoyed reading it immensely. A lot of those kids may very well be coming back, and a lot of them are involved in other writers' works. My fellow collaborator, Matt Kubrick has also made a lot of films with younger actors and actresses getting a good sized role. The writer of the article forgot Skye McCole Bartusiak was in Lying Wish. That's ok, even I forget that movie existed. Anyway, the funny thing is young actor roles in my films are far from over. I still have plenty in mind, and one is from In Spirit, Jodelle Ferland's big CMP debut!

In 'In Spirit' recently widowed Del Toro is haunted by the death of his wife while caring for his equally haunted daughter, Jodelle. As the film progresses we get a glimpse into their lives, Jodelle begins finding things out about her family life.

Representative in trouble!

*News from the Josh Collins desk*

Josh Collins has been trying to get back in touch with Kate Beckinsale. Recent Bob Felton news says Beckinsale was deeply offended at the comments made by him, but he says he did not make those comments. The blog is written by several representatives of Grand Island Entertainment(sometimes Collins DOES write in the blog, other times it's others!!), also the board is visited by Grand Island representatives as well who use Collins' login name. Someone, not a big fan of Beckinsale who said those nasty things has tarnished Josh's name and reputation. They also made sure they made it seem it was written by Collins by supporting Ms. Breslin. Collins had this to say:

"I've supported all of my actors and actresses and crew. Why would I congratulate her on getting a nomination one moment and then turn around and say those horrible things the next? Kate is a fine actress who deserved her nomination for her performance. I will personally get to the bottom of this. I will continue to try to get in touch with Kate and apologize for another's actions and hope to make amends with her."

Collins has started hunting for the representative who soiled his name by posting such blasphemy!

Rumor Has It:

I just woke up from a dream where I was watching a movie preview and a pretty good movie, something that I would probably write popped up on the screen. Of course, I don't remember every last detail of what was going on in the film but it involved a couple of sisters. One was played by Dakota Fanning and the other had a younger actress whose major internal conflict was choosing between her loyalty to her big sis vs. telling what her big sis is up to(Dakota being up to no good) and the repercussions of the little sis telling and Dakota's character becoming even more of a bitch.

Back from the GMAs!

We weren't gonna stick around for the after-party cuz we had to get Allie to bed, but we are thrilled of the winners and are proud of our achievements this season! I'm still trying to see if it was just a dream that we won our first Best Picture of the season.

We were glad but not so surprised that Earth 3K won most wanted sequel. It's going to happen anyway. We're just glad there were others who weren't critics that enjoyed the film.

Congrats goes out to Daniel Day Lewis for his win, though I agree it may have been in the wrong category. Excellent work, Lewis!

Major congrats to Abbie. The first child/teen to win the best actress award. You deserved it, and you made us all want to cry while you gave your speech. You even had your opponents of the night give you a supportive standing ovation. Don't go wasting that talent now!

Another major win is Jeff Bridges! He finally gets a win for a prestigious award after only getting nominations at the Oscars. Big congratulations to you too!

Sam, you went up against some extremely heavy hitters and came out on top. Nice win!

Huge congratulations to 'The Rock Star' for the big win of the night. We just can't believe it hahaha. It's always harder to think of something that would outdo the big win.

Rumor Has It 11/17/09

Josh Collins' daughter may once again get her shot at a CMP film: in a film not written by Josh! We received word that Allie may get a role in a fellow CMP writer's work, after viewing her wonderful performances as Kate Beckinsale's daughter in 'The Rock Star' and Kevin Bacon's little girl in 'After the Storm'. Details will be worked out in time. When you need a precious little cute kid under the age of 8, Allie is the kiddo for you. Here she is posing with some random dude. No, that's not Josh Collins probably some guy from one of the crews on the set or a random guy who happened to pass us in a restaurant and wanted us to take their pic together. I dunno.

We should have a few more pitches on the way! One of them is another family film about a cat on an adventure. No, not the Karate Kat. Josh Collins likes cats and has felt there hasn't been a whole lot of cat films. They make plenty of films about dogs, you'd think as adventurous and independent as cats are, they'd have more ideas.

CONGRATULATIONS: FIREFLIES, ROCK STAR AND EARTH 3K

We wish to send congratulations to Fireflies in the Jelly Jars for earning 4 nominations, Rock Star for earning the most this season with 6 nominations and Earth 3K for earning one for most wanted sequel.

Fireflies in the Jelly-Jars is actually being released in theaters, along with other GMA nominated films this season. Rock Star has been in theaters for the last couple of weeks, but the traffic flow to it is going to be overwhelming now that it's the most nominated and a best picture nomination.

We are no strangers to the Best Picture category. We have just never won a best pic of the season. We haven't had a best picture nomination since Season 7, Lyra. It's also been since then that we've received screenplay nominations. Since then we've scored a few acting awards here and there. Other best picture nominations include Dream of a King and Hollyweird.
NOMINATIONS: 4
WINS: 0

We now have our fifth screenplay nomination, and our first 'best original concept' nomination.
Our other best screenplays include: Hollyweird, Blink, Lyra and Velcro. We are honored to have Fireflies join the mix.
NOMINATIONS: 5(6 if you count original concept)
WINS: 1

MOST WANTED SEQUEL:
Our only other most wanted sequel film was L.A. Wolf last season. Earth 3K's sequel seems a little too obvious though considering it's been announced before that there will be another one. Also it ended with us believing there would be a sequel.
NOMINATIONS: 2
WINS: O

BEST VILLAIN:
Daniel Day Lewis is recognized again for the kind of role he does so well. A cold bitter bad guy. He joins Willem Dafoe(72 Hours), Chow Yun-Fat(Five Thunderbolts), Guy Pearce(Killer on the Road), Ryan Gosling(After the Storm), and Samuel L. Jackson(Foul Karma) for the GMA nominated Josh Collins villains.
NOMINATIONS: 6
WINS: 2

BEST STARRING COUPLE:
Jeff and Kate swears they were only friends in Rock Star. Even if they had a hot sex scene which Kate showed her real Ta-Tas. They join the list along with the mother/daughter team: Frances McDormand and Kate Hudson(Velcro), The first female child tag team to be nominated for the category, Abigail Breslin and Dakota Fanning(Fantastic Mansion), and Vigilante/House Burgular Samuel L. Jackson/Matt Damon(Foul Karma)
NOMINATIONS: 4
WINS: 2

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Robin Wright Penn earned her first nod in the category. Josh Collins films are no strangers to this category either: Angela Bassett(Dream of a King) and Ivana Baquero(Blink) went up against each other that season. The following season Frances MacDormand(Velcro) and Jodie Foster(Lyra) earned the nods. Just last season, we had the only films nominated in the category. Joan Cusack(Check, Please), Amy Adams(Woodland Creatures) and Michelle Williams(Weigh Anchor)
NOMINATIONS: 8
WINS: 3

BEST ACTRESS:
It seems like a tradition for our films to have supporting actresses going head to head and it makes it so difficult to favor one over the other. This time it's the cream of the crop, the best actresses that are butting heads for the win. Abigail Breslin's(Fireflies in the Jelly-Jars) first 'best actress' nod in CMP goes up against Kate Beckinsale's bitchiness in Rock Star. People are whispering whose going to win it. Abigail and Kate join the list of Collins Actress nods along with: Scarlett Johannsen(Hollyweird), Hilary Swank(Blink), Jena Malone(Lyra), Kate Hudson(Velcro), Laura Linney(Dare to be Perfect)
NOMINATIONS: 7
WINS: 1

As most of you have realized we have been good friends with the Breslin family, Abigail stopped by our studio and dropped Collins a note in his mailbox.
"Thank you for giving me all the opportunities and through hard work came big rewards. I think it's cool that I got a GMA best actress nomination but it just makes me want to try harder next time. I've been a highly pressured child actress who cuts herself, a young girl trying to overcome a zombie apocalypse(No, not Zombieland), I ran away from home to go to Toyland, I've been fatally ill and also on a journey to other worlds with my on-screen sister as we cope with our parents' death. I was then a kid dealing with the entrance of the young teenage life. That one was similar to my work in Fireflies, but I was more abused in this one.
I don't know what's next to come, but with this kind of resume, I don't doubt I'll have more opportunities to shine. I wouldn't have been able to do that if you didn't persist to challenge me! I wil always be looking forward to working with you and your studio soon, and will always look forward to work with other CMP writers!"
Thank You,
Abbie

moving on to the rest of the categories:

BEST ACTOR:
Jeff Bridges is no stranger to acting awards at the Oscars, this time he gets his well deserved chance to be nominated for a GMA award. He faces tough competition this season as all of the performances were outstanding. He joins our list along with: Lawrence Fishburne(Dream of a King), Greg Kinnear(Dare to be Perfect) and last year's winner: Joseph Gordon-Levitt(Weigh Anchor)
NOMINATIONS: 4
WINS: 2

BEST DIRECTOR:
Sam Mendes earns his spot for his directorial work on Rock Star. Collins films have done pretty good for director nominations but none have ever won. Josh Collins himself(Hollyweird), Spike Lee(Dream of a King), Noah Baumbach(Lyra).
Nominations: 4
Wins: 0

It's been a very long time since we've seen a Josh Collins dominant GMA!

Thank you all who voted!

Rumor Has It:

Malcolm Manboobs: Yes, we are making a movie with the word 'Manboobs' in the title. It was going to be called 'Bitchtits' but the MPAA was concerned about it. We originally had Haley Joel Osment in mind as the title character, but Spencer Breslin ended up being cast. The film is a comedy about having a physical feature peers often mock. In this case, the dreaded Manboobs. Though the film isn't so much about having Manboobs, but being damn proud about it and not caring what others think.

Stages of Love: A romantic dramedy about four men from the same family, each in their own stages of lives and love. We are excited for this film and hope to see big things come out of it. Two particular storylines involve lovelife through the eyes of the eldest grampa age of the family, finding love after having a life full of loss and heartbreak. True love comes at a moment when there isn't much time left. As love-life is ending, another's is beginning. The youngest man of the family, 12-13 year old discovering deeper feelings for girls. We may have to rewrite this one though, as when it was originally pitched there wasn't much depth to the story because we had to edit it for HM message board character length.
